Assam Minor’s Tragic Story Prime Accused Escapes Police Custody and Dies in Pond
In Assam’s Nagaon district, a deeply distressing incident occurred involving a minor girl who was a victim of gang-rape. One of the prime accused, Tafujal Islam, di*d early this morning after trying to escape police custody.
The Escape and Death:
Tafujal Islam was in police custody and was being taken to the scene of the crime for a re-creation of the incident around 4 a.m. While being escorted, he suddenly attempted to break free from the grip of a constable. In the process, he ran and jumped into a nearby pond in Dhing.
Search Operation:
Immediately after he jumped into the pond, a search operation was launched. The State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) was called in to assist, and after about 2 hours, they recovered his body. The police confirmed that he died during the escape attempt.
Official Statement:
A senior police official explained that after his interrogation, Tafujal Islam was being taken to the crime scene for a re-creation when he suddenly tried to escape. The police were unable to stop him, and he ultimately fell into the pond, leading to his death.
